Are there any setup fees?
There are very minor setup fees. A typical setup fee is less than $50.00.
Do I have to sign a term contract?
You are not required to sign a contract with AVAD; our standard service is month-to-month. If you would prefer to have your service based on a contract, we are able to develop and negotiate one based on your business needs.
Who provides internet connection?
We can provide T1 service. If you do not require T1, then you should check with your local cable or DSL provider. You will need a dedicated IP address which most cable/dsl providers offer under their business class service.
Is a T-1 connection required?
Not always. The bandwidth connection required is based on the number of phone users in each location. We highly recommend using a specialized VoIP router to ensure the highest call quality.

VoIP FAQ’s
What is VoIP?
VoIP (or Voice over Internet Protocol) is a great way to make and receive phone calls using your broadband Internet connection instead of your standard phone line. AVAD converts your phone calls into data that zips through your high-speed Internet.
Can I keep my current phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. Please contact an AVAD account executive to confirm.
Can I pick my own phone number?
Yes. During the sign up process, we give you the option of selecting your telephone number. However, depending on the circumstances, there may be limited availability of certain area codes and telephone numbers.
What is E-911?
E-911 is an enhanced 911 service provided by AVAD and required for all customers. When you call 911, all of your information is given to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Enhanced-911 is ideal because all of your information (including your AVAD service address) is sent.
Do I need special equipment?
As with any VoIP service, you need VoIP phones or a VoIP adapter.
Is There a minimum # of phone users?
Yes. AVAD has a 5-user minimum.
